You wash your car regularly. You may even apply a coat of wax. Yet, when the Houston sun hits your vehicle's panels, you don't see a flawless mirror reflection. Instead, you see a web of fine spiderwebs, swirls, and haze that dulls the finish. This is where the art and science of Paint Correction begins.
At Major Detailz, paint correction is one of our most requested specialty services. It is the process that separates a "clean" car from a truly "perfected" automotive asset.

More Than Just "Buffing"
Many vehicle owners confuse paint correction with standard polishing or "buffing." While related, true paint correction is a much more meticulous and invasive process. It involves the mechanical leveling of the clear coat—the transparent protective layer over your car's colored base coat.
Swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation are actually microscopic valleys and ridges in the clear coat that scatter light. By safely removing a microscopic amount of clear coat (measured in microns), we eliminate these defects, creating a perfectly flat surface that reflects light directly. The result? Deep, liquid gloss that looks better than the day it left the showroom.

The Major Detailz Correction Process
Restoring a finish is not a one-step job. It requires patience, expertise, and the right technology to ensure the integrity of your paint is preserved.
- Step 1: Chemical & Mechanical Decontamination: Before any machine touches the paint, we strip away old waxes, road tar, and embedded iron particles using clay bars and specialized pH-neutral chemicals.
- Step 2: The Test Spot: Every paint system is different—Tesla soft paint requires a different approach than hard German clear coats. We perform a test spot to dial in the exact combination of pad and polish.
- Step 3: The Correction Stage (Compound): Using dual-action polishers and abrasive compounds, we remove deeper defects like RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) and heavy oxidation.
- Step 4: The Polishing Stage (Jeweling): This final step refines the finish, removing any haze left from the compounding stage and maximizing the optical clarity of the paint.

Why Is This an Investment?
Paint correction is the foundational step before applying long-term protection like our Ceramic Coatings. If you apply a ceramic coating over swirled paint, you are simply "locking in" the defects for years.
By correcting the paint first, we ensure that the coating bonds to a pristine surface, enhancing both the durability of the protection and the aesthetic impact of the vehicle. For the asset-proud owner, this process essentially resets the clock on your vehicle's exterior condition.
